Are you looking for a job?
While you’re refurbishing your CV take a look at this short article:
“6 words that make your resume suck”
It’s pretty obvious to focus on a potential employees’ past successes and the benefits to the employer of hiring someone, but you’d be surprised how many CVs I get which fail all of the above. They just list the things that people have done - not how well it was done, or what degree of success their efforts made. 9 out of 10 CVs I get every week don’t get read past the first page (or paragraph sometimes!)
Of every 100 CVs I get, I interview perhaps 4 or 5 people. And they were the ones whose CV’s were “remarkable” or refreshing or quirky or featured a success story, or one of their interests or hobbies sounded edgy. Most CVs look like they are the same - just the name and surname are different.
So, standing out in a crowded marketplace is crucial. But really easy to do if you have got cheak, balls or sh!t hot skills. (Not to mention some talent in constructing your CV - the first job you get to do for your potential employer).
My 5 cents worth.
