What a pleasant mix-up!

I was wondering why my itemised billing printout from Vodacom was nearly a centimetre thick. Surely the 2 cellphone-carrying members of my family didn’t make so many calls?
Luckily, on closer inspection I discovered that Vodacom had inserted someone else’s invoice and statement into mine. I new this would be easy to sort out as their name and mobile phone numbers will be on the printouts. So I called and left a message and a short while later a certain Mr Olivier had called back to arrange the handover of his account. As we were going out anyway, and not to far from his house, I offered to drop them off.
After his front door was already closed I realised this was THE Michael Olivier - the food and wine guru. The guy you see in magazine articles and at all the right functions. What I wasn’t expecting was a bottle of 2006 Kloovenburg Cabernet Sauvignon and a copy of his latest book as thanks! Totally unexpected!
So, not only was the bottle of wine a perfect addition to an extended family Sunday lunch, but I have a story to tell, a book on wines to peruse and a positive memory of a rather generous Micheal Olivier.
You can follow him here on Twitter and here (www.MichaelOlivier.co.za)
Now, all I need to do is lay my hands on more of that rather good Kloovenburg. Actually, I wouldn’t mind trying their Merlot too.
