Fact Sheet – Cell Phones, Wi-Fi and Portable Electronics on Airplanes
I’ve been saying this for 10 years. It’s crazy that airlines still dish out such claptrap about “important safety regulations on this aircraft prohibit use of mobile phones and certain electronic devices” blah blah blah. It’s just nonsense.
Mobile phones, iPads and similar gadgets now have “flight mode” which switches off wifi and 3G, but no, airlines still insist that this “mode” is still dangerous. Rubbish.
On every single flight there must be at least 5% to 10% of phones left switched on in error (or simple disobedience). If mobile phones truly caused problems then planes would be fallin out of the sky daily.
Get over it airlines. It’s a myth.

Mobile web stats in South Africa
The numbers:
42m mobile subscribers.
31m web-enabled phones.
15m people browsing the mobile web.
That’s a big audience. And huge potential too.
Interesting statistic of the day
Take a click through to this infographic. Don’t you think it’s amazing that the USA has only 48 mobile phones per 100 people - compared to the UK at 84 or even Icelnad at 90 per 100! And Canada - only 37 phones per 100.
I really would have thought the US and Canada would be close to 100. Well, you learn something new everyday.
