How many is a lot of users?
It seems that Facebook was hovering around 800 million users for a year now. I was starting to get the feeling they had maxed out. Now news just in is they may be topping 1 billion users soon. (That’s 1 out 7 people globally!)
And this news on the same day as Twitter, who was hovering around a few hundred million users, is set to reach 500 million in February. Half a billion. That’s a big number.

The Czech Republic tops the world’s beer consumption per capita
The Czech Republic tops the world’s beer consumption per capita at 158.6 litres per person per year!
That’s nearly half a litre per day!
Now given that a fair chunk of any population is too old or too young or too ill or too religious to be drinking, or simply don’t drink beer, that pushes the number even higher for those who do. Incredible.

Silver is the new black (internationally).
But in South Africa it’s a slightly different story: “White was overwhelmingly the most popular vehicle color choice in the region, at 35 percent, which is the highest percentage of any region covered in the report. Silver (24 percent) takes second and black/black effect combine for 14 percent.”
I guess we knew this, but it’s interesting to see the stats.

Some surprises here! Skype at 590 million, sheesh! And Yahoo mail - so high too, why? Surely not because it’s better than GMail? Maybe just because it arrived earlier. Same as Hotmail.
Few others I’d like to have seen there, like, Plaxo, Orkut. Are they still relevant?
